Day 8 of the #31dbc!
Today I am still traveling but I wanted to leave you with hope! I could think of nothing better than the 91st Psalm. If you let this chapter soak into your heart today, into your soul and mind, you will be so comforted, so confident in God that no matter what comes your way you are secure in your heart. Why? Because you dwell in the secret place. You live under the shadow of the Almighty!
Psalm 91.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”
He is your refuge, your fortress, your God! He is the One we trust!
I love everything about this chapter. It has deliverance, protection, trust, truth and it takes away fear, darkness, destruction and terror!
It ends by saying that though a thousand would fall at your side, and the New Living Translation says, “… though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.” Why?
All because you live in the Secret Place.
That doesn’t mean you won’t have trials, tests, sickness, pain or even face the difficulty of losing a loved one! Of course we will experience all of these things because we live in a real world. But the good news is that we will not face them alone. We have the Comforter. Christ in you, the hope of Glory!
Friend, things could not be any more promising. You couldn’t have any better insurance than that!
Is there fear in your life? Are you facing uncertainty?
Turn to the Word of God. That is what He left it here for!
It is a Guide Book, a Road Map and our Instruction Manual.
All we need we can find in this wonderful Book of Life. And this 91st chapter of Psalms is a great example of the life that is in this Bible.
You can dwell in the Secret Place!

I LOVE the 91st Psalm. I cannot read it without remembering that it was my dads favourite chapter in the Bible. As he lay dying I read it to him, he could hear me, but could not respond and I knew that it would comfort him. And it comforted me too. I am so very grateful for the Word of God. We would all be LOST without it. How would we know how to find Him, how to touch him, how to gain salvation if we did not have it?
I enjoyed this word of inspiration from you. Thank you!
Pray for us when you read this, it looks like my husband is going to be offered a church to pastor here in our city…God knows!
Love, Cindy
Nanette, you have given us such words of encouragement here to hold on to and build our trust in God.
Thanks for linking up at Essential Fridays.

Oh Conni, I am so sorry I am just now seeing this comment. I am praying for your son!! And also for his wife and little boy. We know God is in control for sure and He is faithful in all things. I will also pray for you friend, that you will have peace and not worry, but will let God take those burdens and cares, He desires for you to be at rest. Thank you for sharing. My husband and I will put him on our prayer list! ♥
The Lord used your post to further encourage me today. Thank you. Our Army Special Forces son leaves tomorrow for his fifth deployment to Afghanistan and my prayer, other than for his safety and peace for his wife and three year old son, has been for me to stay focused on God: HIS control in ALL circumstances. Perfect timing!
I soo love this, it’s absolute truth! This scripture first brought me to faith because of the promises and comfort it brings-
I believed it then, I believe in it now, and claim all it says in Jesus’ name as I face a trial in my life. AMEN!
Bless you Nannette!
Safe travels!
