Today is Canada Day!
On July 1, 1867, the nation was officially born when the Constitution Act joined three provinces into one country: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Canada province, which then split into Ontario and Quebec. Canada was not completely independent of England until 1982. While Canada is politically independent, they are still a part of the British Monarchy and Queen Elizabeth is still considered the official Head of State.
I am sure there will be parades all over Canada today! Picnics, festivals and of course, fireworks! I have been privileged to visit cities in Nova Scotia, and spent several weeks visiting churches and friends in Toronto. And I cannot leave out the Canada side of beautiful Niagara Falls! What a beautiful country and what a beautiful people!
I have so many faithful readers from Canada, I am blessed by them every day! Today I honor them and wish them a wonderful holiday! I know they have been celebrating all weekend. Blessings friends!
Who doesn’t enjoy fireworks! Celebrating with friends and family, nothing like it! Blessings!
Thank you for stopping by and following Hope in the Healing Teresa! I love my Canadian neighbors 🙂 Hope you enjoy the blog, please make yourself at home! Glad to have you here!
I didn’t know this.
i hope you injoy your day ours is soon and fire works go off
Thanks Junebug! I corrected that! I had something similar to that on the post but not sure where that ended up! Somewhere in cyberspace, lol. I liked it better the way you said it anyway. Love my Northern friends!!! ♥
Thanks Nannette! I have to say, I am “royally” impressed that you included some Canadian history in your post today. While Canada is politically independent, we are still part of the British Monarchy. That means, Queen Elizabeth is still considered the official Head of State…as least on paper anyway. 😉 Trish F – The weather today was sweltering hot where I am. Is it not nice where you are?
Happy Canada Day! I hope all of you have a great holiday, and I hope you’re having better weather up there than we are just south of you.
Awesome Elizabeth! Haven’t been to Ottawa, but I am sure it is beautiful too. I have a lot of Canadian friends, love them, every one! Good to hear from you today! Are you cooking up something good? 🙂
My husband and I lived in Ottawa for 3 years for his job and we absolutely loved it. Beautiful, and oh yes the canadian side of Niagara Falls is every bit as gorgeous as everyone says. And yeah, Canada Day is HUGE, and lots of fun 🙂
