What is the Highest Praise we can give to God?
The one Praise that is the same in any language?
HALLELUJAH!
Universally accepted, universally understood. Sometimes abused, but still it means the same thing: It is a call to worship or an exclamation of praise. It is actually formed from two Hebrew words meaning “Praise ye the Lord”! The Greek form is “Alleluia”.
The word is found 24 times in the Book of Psalms, almost always at the beginning or ending of the poem.
In the New Testament we find the word used several times exclusively in the 19th chapter of Revelation; “Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, ‘Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.'” Revelation 19:6.
This is after the final victory of the Church and the great multitude has gathered around the throne to worship the One who has redeemed His Bride! John says the sound of praise and worship is so loud and overwhelming he compares it to “the roar of many waters and the sound of mighty peals of thunder”.
Don’t you want to be there?! Endless Hallelujah!! What excites me the most about the word is that we will be able to use it over and over again in the presence of the King when we finally reach that City! As the angels cry, “Holy, Holy, Holy..”, we can finally join them in singing Endless Hallelujah’s and “Holy, Holy, Holy, to the Lamb!”
HALLELUJAH seems the only word grand enough to be used in the presence of the Almighty besides HOLY!
Matt Redman wrote a beautiful song, you’ve been waiting for it, and every time I hear it I can envision standing with the Redeemed…
When I stand before Your throne
Dressed in glory not my own
What a joy I’ll sing of on that day
No more tears or broken dreams
Forgotten is the minor key
Everything as it was meant to be
And we will worship, worship
Forever in Your presence we will sing
We will worship, worship You
An Endless Hallelujah to the King
You can hear the song in its entirety on the video, you will be blessed!
