Today I took a couple of pictures of some gorgeous dinner-plate hibiscus. These happen to be The Sweetheart’s ultimate fave flower ever. He first fell in love with them years ago when we were in Florida. Probably the first time he had ever seen them, and we couldn’t get over how big they were! We tried to grow them a few times over the years, sometimes successful, others not so much.
This healthy bush is in my MIL’s front yard and it is in full bloom! A beautiful array of flowers, and she is as proud of them as he is.
Tomorrow I will celebrate 34 years of being together with this wonderful man who has been my best friend for way more than half my life. To say I cannot imagine life without him would be an understatement. To also say we haven’t had hard times would be foolish. But we have weathered them.
If you have been following my blog from the beginning, or are just joining, you will see I refer to him as “The Sweetheart”, always have, always will. Our beloved Latvians call him Doogalas and I like to throw that in occasionally too…thankfully he will answer to anything. He is easy-going like that after all of these years. (It took me a while to train him though.)
Like that hibiscus blowing in the wind out there today in the hot, humid weather, we keep digging deep, hanging on to what we knew we had in the beginning: God and each other.
Thank you Ellen!! He is a blessing for sure. Love you dear friend. ♥
