“Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world.” Romans 1:8 NLT.
So, is your faith worth talking about? It is amazing in this scripture in Romans, written a couple of thousand years ago, that Paul tells the Church in Rome that their faith is being talked about all over the world. This is before television, before Facebook, the internet, and Twitter, and yet whatever they were doing was spreading like wildfire!
The Bible says, “…These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” Acts 17:6 NKJV.
Something was happening among the disciples, the believers, The Church, that was causing them to want to share it with others. They didn’t have to be prodded, poked or pushed, they were so excited with what God was doing in their midst that they just had to tell everyone they met!
The Gospel, the Good News, should cause us to want to spread it around. It should fill us with “joy unspeakable and full of glory”!
“When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat.
They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, ‘My child, your sins are forgiven.’” Mark 2:1-5 NLT.
Here is a wonderful example of faith worth talking about!
This paralyzed man had some pretty great friends that were desperate for him to get to Jesus and were not going to let a full house keep him from getting his miracle. If they couldn’t get in through the door then they would just make a hole in the roof! Their faith was rewarded with a miracle, their friend was not only healed instantly of his paralysis but he was also forgiven of his sins!
“Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.” Matthew4:24. KJV.
If God has done something great for us, we should share it with others!
Your life itself is a living witness for God. Some people may never enter a church building; they may not hear a message or sermon preached about the love of God.
That’s why we must be careful about our actions and words because they do impress people, either for the good or the bad.
A.B. Simpson said, “The chief danger of the Church today is that it is trying to get on the same side as the world, instead of turning the world upside down. Our Master expects us to accomplish results, even if they bring opposition and conflict. Anything is better than compromise, apathy, and paralysis. God, give to us an intense cry for the old-time power of the Gospel and the Holy Ghost!”
If we have His mind, His heart, and strive to be like Him, we will live each day to please Him and our faith will be something worth talking about.

Great thoughts Nannette…I need reminded daily of there is lost all around me. Christ took ever opportunity to to bring someone to the Father.
It’s so easy for us to forget that calling too, Nannette. These men (friends of the paralytic) sure didn’t forget what they were determined or “called” to do. And they didn’t let a little obstacle like a crowd or even a “roof” stop them from ministering to their friend. That’s the kind of faith worth talking about for sure! Thanks for this encouraging word, my friend!
Hey Nannette … this is the kind of faith I want to live. And any friend of Simpson is surely a friend of mine!
Appreciate your words this morning, friend …
Good point. It’s not a call of trudging, it’s a call to share the love that opened the gates of heaven to all that would accept it from our Savior! Our hearts should be breaking and striving for the lost. A needed reminder. Thanks, Nannette.
