My dear friend Heather Mertens of 40 Year Wanderer fame, has invited me to be a part of the #MyWritingProcess blog tour! How cool! Heather was one of the very first writers/bloggers to reach out to me with encouragement when I first started blogging over a year ago. She is an accomplished author, with TWO new works coming out soon! Her heart is all about God and reaching others for Him. She has lived, so she writes. She shares a unique gift on her blog and writes real, raw and refreshing. I adore her.
In the #MyWritingProcess tour, you are asked four questions about your writing style and why you do what you do. Here we go!
- What are you working on? So glad you asked! At times I feel like I have been in a writing dungeon lately, almost as if I had given everything I had to give. But I realized God was taking me on a journey, redefining my writing and reminding me it is all about HIM, not me. At this time, I am attempting to compile my first e-book! EEK! I am excited to bring my Daniel Fast series into an actual book of 31 days of devotions and recipes. I also desire to write what God puts on my heart, WHEN He puts it there. Not to just write for the sake of putting something out there.
- How does your work differ from others of its genre? I hope what I do is simply an encouragement. I try to share from experiences and let others know that God is there for them! I might be more transparent than some and I pray that is a good thing.
- Why do I write? Because I cannot keep it inside! I stepped out of my comfort zone to “put myself out there” and it was the scariest thing I have ever done in my life. To let others “see me” and to bare my soul was a frightening thing. Yet I knew that God was nudging me and pushing me (along with The Sweetheart) and I could not stay silent any longer.
- How does your writing process work? Oh my!! Sometimes it is planned out, others it is definitely impromptu. I admit to not having a schedule for my blog, I probably should, but I try to post something at least twice a week. If God gives it, I write it!
And now for my three other writers that I would like to nominate!
Cheryl Smith. What a lovely Christian lady! She writes at Homespun Devotions and everything that comes from her laptop is truly blessed. She has a heart for God, loves Him unconditionally and her prayer is to bless others. She writes about her faith, her family and simply, life. Please check out her lovely blog here!
Sharon, at Sharon Sharing God, has one of the biggest hearts I have ever “met”. She is truly an inspiration in the way she encourages others with her writing. She lives in the mountains and shares the joys and struggles of an “isolated” life. Her writing is unique; she will dig deep into your heart and make you think! I always leave her place encouraged. Check out her writings here!
Holly Barrett. Last, certainly not least! Holly writes with passion. Pure passion, at Reclaiming a Redeemed Life. She has much to say, and says it powerfully. She has an awesome series on her blog, The Big Red Sofa and she describes it, “…is about the things I see in life that make me go ‘hmmmm’. What God teaches me in scripture. The ordinary things that God can use to drive home spiritual lessons. The questions I sometimes ask. The stories we can all share. So pull up a cushion and join me on the sofa.” Please pay her a visit and be encouraged by her experiences here.
How about you? How do you share what is INSIDE? Do you write? Speak? Tweet? How do you get it out? Share your thoughts today, I would love to hear how you express yourself.

Love you!!!
Imagine my great surprise at finding out about this! I can’t thank you enough for honoring me by mentioning my blog on yours! And, your kind words were so very much appreciated. Thank you, Nannette. I’m humbled.
Today I’m going over to check out Cheryl and Holly’s blogs. I love this blogging community that I’ve become a part of. The encouragement and inspiration, and also the conviction and challenge that I find in my reading is invaluable. Though at this point I cannot remember how I *found* you, I’m sure glad I did! And I’m blessed by your friendship.
GOD BLESS!
(I don’t have an email attached to my blog, but you can always reach me at the email that’s attached to my comments)
I really enjoyed looking around your site! I have a friend who suffers from fibromyalgia among other things and is in so much pain daily. It is such a hard thing. I love your “Candace Jo” story and wish for many blessings for you and your family. 🙂
Amen!! We write to honor HIM first. I love everything you said!
You are so very welcome dear friend. Your blog is a blessing and so are you!
And I love your site, Ruth!! You encourage me with your lovely talent. ♥
Thank you Lisa, it is my first so, yeah, YIKES! Blessings to you for all you do for the Kingdom.
Thank you, Holly. You are a blessing to me!
You are awesome…and yes, we will make time on the other side of Jordan! Ha, we will have PLENTY of time! It is all for Him, and I am thankful you keep reminding us of that. He has done a marvelous work in your life and it is just fantastic that you share it to encourage others. Love you friend!!
Floyd has a way with words, Heather! Thank you again for the opportunity to be featured and be a part of the Writing Process. I think you are the best!
Thank you so much. Yes I understand about putting yourself out there. It’s hard sometimes but you have a great outlook! Authenticity!! God will bless it.
What an interesting visit! I enjoyed reading about your writing and the excitement of your e-book, too. I’ll be eager to read it, too. I’ve been blogging for a long time and it’s still hard to bare my soul. But when I started I promised God to always be authentic and I’ve endeavored to keep that promise.
Blessings,
Pamela

What a beautiful comment Floyd. Just a true blessing for Nanette. And me just by reading your heart here!
Writing for Him does not even begin to be enough, but yes, it sure soothes the soul. 🙂
Blessings!

Hey Holly,
Fancy meetin’ you here too! What a nice surprise!! Isn’t Nanette just a lovely lovely heart?!
I love you, Nannette! Can I tell you that you are one of the handful I hope to meet this side of Heaven and hang out with in the ever-after.
Your words blessed my socks right off! It IS all for Him. Because I simply would be dead without Him. Literally. He stopped me from taking my own life and then restored that life back to Him. I gotta’ tell the world, Nannette. I just have to.
Love you. Will be praying for your journeys!!
XOXO
Heather
Thank you so much, Nannette! Your kind words have honored and encouraged me greatly today. I enjoy your site so much and am so glad we are in community together! Much love!
I’m excited for you to be publishing an eBook! I pray it will be a fruitful ministry. And I’m certain it will be encouraging. You are definitely good at doing that.
Beautiful… I’m not a writer but I do express a lot through blogging. On my way to visit the three lovely ladies now….
Oh, Nannette! What a blessed surprise to open my email just now and read your post, then find your sweet recommendation in it!! You blessed my whole day!! Thank you ever so much for your kind, encouraging words. I so enjoy every post you write and am trusting God to richly bless your missionary journey. So thankful for you, sweet friend!! 🙂
Good for you, Nannette! If our Father has born us to write, it doesn’t matter how many read, it only matters that we’re obedient… then leave everything else up to Him.
I write to honor Him first, not saying I don’t fall sideways sometimes, but that’s the first part of why and what I strive for. I find it soothes the soul and God speaks to me in the process. Writing is His creation, and it’s our job to honor Him with our words.
Thanks for making me stop and answer those questions, that’s a good thing and helps remind me of why we do what we do…
